Streamlining multi-city operations for a nationwide festival series

TAPT started in 2015 after spotting a gap for beer-focused events. Their rapid growth led to a nationwide expansion and rebranding. Since 2021, TAPT has partnered with Weeztix to manage ticketing, data, and logistics across 13 events in 12 cities, while maintaining their signature festival experience.

Background

TAPT Festival began in 2015 when founders Nick de Vree and Simon Leech identified a gap in Amsterdam's event scene: there was no festival dedicated to craft beers. Their initial attempt to fill that gap faced unexpected challenges when their first event, held in a 500-person venue, drew over 25,000 responses on Facebook. This led to the city cancelling the event due to safety concerns. However, the media buzz generated massive public interest. So, later that year, Simon and Nick hosted their first wildly successful festival, BierWest, in the Erasmuspark, marking the beginning of TAPT's journey.

Expansion and Growth

Following the success of BierWest, TAPT launched BierOost in 2016 and expanded beyond Amsterdam with UtrechtTapt in 2017. This led to a rebrand as TAPT Festival, unifying all editions under one name. Hosting 13 events in 12 cities in 2025, TAPT juggles diverse venues and audiences while maintaining its signature vibe. As operational demands grew, TAPT partnered with Weeztix in 2021 to streamline their ticketing, data, and on-site logistics while supporting their continued expansion nationwide.

Scaling event management across multiple cities

Through smart integrations with Google Tag Manager and Meta, TAPT can retarget interested users and launch campaigns directly from their ticketing data. This means their promotions are more effective and sell more tickets earlier.

With weather-dependent outdoor events, TAPT needed a real-time view of visitor check-ins to dynamically adjust crew levels and reduce entry delays. Ensuring that thousands of festivalgoers can enter quickly and safely without long queues or technical hiccups is essential for TAPT’s smooth operations and first impressions.
