Upselling, access control and corporate networking at Paaspop

Paaspop has been kicking off the Dutch festival season every Easter weekend for over 50 years. With over 350 performing acts, a full camping operation, a dedicated day for business partners, and tens of thousands of visitors moving across multiple zones, it is a festival that pushes the limits of what a ticketing setup can achieve.

Background

Paaspop launched in 1974 at De Molenheide in Schijndel as a small local event for the Easter weekend. Over the following decades, it grew into the unofficial opener of the Dutch festival season, hosting hundreds of artists across multiple stages in a programme spanning rock, pop, hip-hop, dance, and everything in between. Today, Paaspop runs three full days of music alongside a separate Thursday programme, sponsored by horeca partner Sligro and designed as a business and networking event for the hospitality industry.

Expansion and Growth

The festival has steadily grown into one of the largest and most loved events in the Netherlands. The 2026 edition welcomed a record 120,000 visitors over the weekend, with super early-bird tickets for the following year selling out within an hour of going on sale. Alongside the music, the operation now includes extensive camping, multiple VIP tiers, age-specific ticket types, parking, and crew accreditation, all of which flow through the same ticketing infrastructure. For an operation of this scale and variety, the ticket shop is far more than a checkout. It is a control panel for the entire visitor experience.

Challenges and Solutions

01

Selling a complex mix of ticket types to very different audiences

In addition to regular tickets, Paaspop offers a range of options, including a Young and Free ticket for teenagers and VIP packages for premium hospitality. Each ticket type has its own pricing logic, eligibility rules, and access rights, and the team needed a way to manage them all in a single, coherent flow without confusing buyers or complicating fulfilment.
Solution
Flexible ticket types in one structured shop

Weeztix supports the full spectrum of Paaspop's ticket types in a single setup, including multiple VIP tiers with their own access rights and add-ons, as well as standard day and weekend tickets. Buyers see the options relevant to them, and the team has full control over availability, pricing, and the rules behind each ticket type.

02

Hosting a separate business day with its own audience

Sligro Day is a Thursday event for the hospitality industry, with invited guests attending free of charge as part of a networking programme. Mixing those reservations into the main festival ticket flow would create confusion for both audiences and unnecessary work for the team.
Solution
A dedicated Weeztix shop for Sligro Day reservations

The Sligro Day audience reserves their free tickets through a separate Weeztix shop, fully branded for the business day and decoupled from the festival's consumer flow. The team can manage invitations, capacity, and on-site access for the business event without affecting the rest of the operation, while still keeping all data centralised in the same back office.

03

Managing on-site access across multiple entrances, zones, and ticket types

With a multi-day festival, a separate business day, camping, VIP areas, and crew zones, controlling who has access to what and when is a serious operational challenge. Wristbands need to map cleanly to the right ticket type, on the right day, at the right entrance.
Solution
Streamlined access control with segmented entrances scan devices

Weeztix powers a setup in which different entrances and scanning devices handle different audience segments, with wristbands tied to specific dates, times, and zones. The result is streamlined segmentation across the festival site, faster throughput at the gates, and clean access control across every ticket type Paaspop sells.

04

Coordinating crew accreditation

A festival of this size involves thousands of crew members, suppliers, and partners on top of the paying audience. Managing parking allocations, crew passes, and accreditation in a separate system, disconnected from ticketing, creates friction and risks data being out of sync.
Solution
An integration with In2Event

Weeztix integrates directly with In2Event, the platform Paaspop uses for crew and accreditation management. This allows Paaspop to manage crew credentials, send digital briefings, and automatically match parking tickets to staff members.

05

Turning the ticket shop into an upselling channel

For a festival of Paaspop’s size, selling only entry tickets leaves enormous value on the table. Paaspop wanted a way to present the full range of optional products to buyers in a focused, structured environment.
Solution
A floating shop dedicated to add-ons and upsells

Paaspop runs a floating shop streamlined for selling additional products. Buyers can fully customise their camping setup, add lockers and other practical extras, and book VIP packages with restaurant experiences and premium hospitality.

Conclusion

“With four festival days, multiple VIP tiers, a separate Sligro day, and thousands of crew members to manage, our ticket shop needs to be more than a checkout; it's the control panel for the whole operation. Weeztix lets us run all of that from one system, from Sligro day tickets to crew accreditation via In2Event, without it ever feeling chaotic for our visitors.”
