Flexible ticketing for a multi-week experience

De Brabantse Winter transforms the Brabanthallen into a sprawling 16-day winter village featuring live music, a range of seasonal activities and catering. Given its diverse audience, the team needed a sophisticated ticketing setup that could match the complexity of the event's programming.

Background

De Brabantse Winter launched in 2023 as a new kind of winter event for the south of the Netherlands. Rather than a one-night festival or a traditional Christmas market, the concept was to fill an entire venue with a multi-week experience: live music on the Winterpodium, an XL ice rink, curling, nostalgic attractions, food trucks, a pop-up restaurant, and a Biergarten, all running side by side from late morning into the night.

Expansion and Growth

The format has grown quickly. Each edition welcomes tens of thousands of visitors across nearly three weeks, with audiences shifting throughout the day, from families in the morning to adults in the evening. The diversity of the audience makes the event work, but also demands a sophisticated ticketing setup.

Challenges and Solutions

01

Presenting a complex multi-week programme clearly

De Brabantse Winter runs for 16 consecutive days, with four ticket types available each day and programming that shifts throughout. Listing every individual session as its own event would have made the ticket shop confusing and incredibly difficult to navigate, especially for visitors browsing on their phones or audiences inexperienced in buying event tickets, such as families with kids.
Solution
A datepicker-based shop

Weeztix powers a datepicker-based ticket shop that lets visitors select the date they want to attend, with the available time slots and ticket types appearing immediately for that day. The browsing experience stays clean and intuitive, no matter how many sessions are running across the calendar.

02

Managing capacity throughout the day

With family-oriented content in the morning, broader daytime activities, and live music in the evening, the team needed a way to spread attendance across the day without overcrowding any single moment. Visitors also needed to arrive in time for the activities they came for.
Solution
Time slot tickets built around the programming

The shop offers four ticket types per day: all-day, morning, afternoon, and evening. Each time slot is tightly aligned to the on-site programming. A morning ticket, for example, grants entry between 10 and 11, with the day's children's show starting at 11. This keeps capacity available, ensures visitors arrive on time, and creates a natural flow throughout the day.

03

Rewarding loyal visitors without complicating the standard purchase flow

A multi-week event naturally attracts visitors who want to come back more than once. The team needed a way to offer them unlimited access without cluttering the ticket shop or undermining single-session ticket sales.
Solution
Passe-partouts as a dedicated product

Weeztix supports passe-partouts that grant access to the full event programme, sold as a standalone option in the shop. It is a clean way to reward enthusiastic visitors while keeping the regular purchase flow simple for everyone else.

04

Turning on-site spending and optional extras into revenue

Brabantse Winter offers a wide range of activities and services alongside its main programming, including curling lanes, lockers, parking, and food and drink throughout the venue. Selling all of this only on-site means visitors spend valuable event time queuing rather than enjoying themselves.
Solution
Bundled upsells and Cashcards in the ticket shop

Alongside their tickets, visitors can book curling lanes, reserve lockers, and add on parking directly during checkout. They can also purchase a Cashcard, a prepaid card loaded with credit that can be used for food, drinks, and activities on-site. Bundling all of this into the ticket flow means visitors spend more before the event has even started, and have a smoother experience when they arrive.

05

Collecting detailed visitor data without slowing down the checkout flow

For an event of this scale, attendee data is essential for everything from communication to capacity planning. Collecting it during the initial purchase flow, however, slows down checkout and can hurt conversion, especially during peak sales moments.
Solution
Late personalisation for a faster checkout

By postponing the collection of attendee names until after the initial purchase, the team gives visitors a faster path through checkout while still capturing detailed data for every ticket holder. It is a small change that makes a measurable difference during peak sales moments.

Conclusion

“With 16 days of programming and four ticket types a day, we needed a shop that visitors could navigate without a second thought. Weeztix's datepicker made that possible, and the ability to bundle upsells like curling lanes, lockers and cash cards directly into checkout has turned browsing into extra revenue. It's ticketing that keeps up with how complex our event actually is.”
